Endless Scroll's Favorite Albums of the 2020s So Far
This week we bring you our personal favorite albums of the decade so far. List season comes twice this year.
On our most recent episode, we followed Paste and Pitchfork’s lead and listed off our favorite albums of the decade so far. We promised we have those lists in print soon, and here they are! Miranda was absent from our episode, but rest assured, her list and the things she would have said on the pod about her choices are here too.
Next week we’ll return to our weekly musings, and we already have some great blurbs cooked up for you. For now though, enjoy these hard thought out lists. We invite you to let us know what you’d choose! Send us an email at endlessscrollpod@gmail.com, or give us a call at 412-219-7873.

Miranda’s Favorite Albums of the 2020’s So Far
Wednesday - Rat Saw God
Rat Saw God is the only album that gets close to the way I feel about Get Disowned by Hop Along. I love it and I think of it often. It’s beautiful and ugly and messy and touching and I love it. It’s my natural choice for number 1.
The Hold Steady - Open Door Policy
Their best album since Boys and Girls In America. I listen to it all the time. I probably listen to it more than anything of theirs other than Separation Sunday. The characters are stronger, the story is better, the keys are unmatched.
MJ Lenderman - Boat Songs
SUV is my favorite song of the 2020s (subtle blog cross promo). I can and will play “You Have Bought Yourself A Boat” for anybody, including my dad and uncle. It reminds my dad of The Band. It also reminds me of The Band. That’s why it’s so good.
Alvvays - Blue Rev
Their best album, I think. At least the one I listen to all the way through the most. While driving from Philadelphia to Chicago I got so overwhelmed listening to “Belinda Says” on repeat that I had to pull over and buy a candy bar.
Ada Lea - one hand on the steering wheel the other sewing a garden
When I lay awake at night and think “I want to listen to something beautiful and special” this is what I listen to. Her music is like when you can see stars despite the light pollution.
Trace Mountains - Lost In The Country
This album has stuck with me more than any others from 2020. It has been with me through all points of the last five years. It lives in all my friends’ houses and in all my apartments and in all the AirPods I lost and beers I’ve had and in all the writing and feeling I’ve done.
Star 99 - Bitch Unlimited
Best indie punk of the 2020s easily. Indebted to a rich history of Northern California brilliance in the genre. Fun and cool and better songs than anything you could compare it to.
Japanese Breakfast - Jubilee
The first time I listened to this one it was on the drive back to Philly from a fucked up trip to Boston with my ex-boyfriend and a friend. I thought it was pretty good then. I think it’s a lot more than pretty good now. “Slide Tackle” is a perfect song.
Gladie - Don’t Know What You’re In Until You’re Out
I love Gladie. I’ve loved this record since the first time I heard it. Sort of an album about rebirth and feeling scattered and messy, but forgiving yourself. Or maybe that’s just what I want it to be about.
Ian Sweet - Show Me How You Disappear
The vinyl record I’ve listened to most over the years since it’s come out, probably. Mostly since I’ve lived alone. Intensely special and cathartic and beautiful album. My album of the year 2022, I believe.
