It's Bandcamp Friday: Here are 30 Projects to Buy
Instead of writing about a song, we're recommending music that you can buy on Bandcamp today while the site waives all of their usual fees. Give artists money.
Welcome to Endless Scroll, the brainchild of Eli Enis (he/him) and Eric Bennett (they/them). Since Feb. 2019, we’ve been a weekly podcast about music, the internet, and where those two things intersect. Now we’re, also a M-F newsletter about songs. Our format is simple: a link to a song and a short take from each of us about what we think of it. Each day of the week has a corresponding genre: Monday is indie, Tuesday is punk, Wednesday is hip-hop, Thursday is pop, and Friday is misc. Three days of the week are free but you can get access to all five weekly posts by subscribing for $5/month via Substack or $2/month via our Patreon.

Eli recommends:
MJ Lenderman and Wednesday—Guttering
Beautifully sad, nostalgic, warm, lo-fi dream-pop with a country varnish that’s chipped and worn like an old coffee table you’ve had forever but don’t remember where you got it from.
High Cost—What’s Living Worth?
Scorching powerviolence with a solid dose of NYHC two-step parts. The recording quality also doesn’t sound like shit, which is always a nice touch for this kind of stuff.
The Body—I’ve Seen All I Need to See
The most unrelentingly dark, loud, and pained album I’ve ever heard from these noise-metal titans. Somehow, it’s also incredibly listenable. A great entry point into this world.
two boys alright—Hazy Realms
This is one of the side projects from Clay Parton of Duster. I hadn’t heard it until last year and it’s not on streaming services, but it sounds a lot like where Duster went on their 2019 album. For reference, I love their 2019 album.
Internet Club—Thousand One Half Stars
This OG vaporwave artist has put out a ton of shit I’ve never heard, but I gave their latest a spin and I really dig. Kinda ambient, kinda hypnagogic pop, kinda chillwave, very vapory, but not at all obtuse.
Landon Caldwell—Bicycle Day
Friend of the pod Arielle Gordon plugged this project in her latest ambient column for Bandcamp Daily and I immediately scooped the cassette after one playthrough. Two songs, each 20 minutes, both related to the transcendent pleasure of riding a bike.
Hollow Comet—No Distortion
Another former guest of the pod. Strange Ranger frontman Isaac Eiger has transformed his once-acoustic Hollow Comet solo project into one of the coolest, most aesthetically distinct, and musically compelling electronic projects I’ve come across in a while. “Cross the Water” is one of the best songs I’ve heard all year.
Prolaps—Guilted Hexitation
Matt Stephenson of Machine Girl and Bonnie Baxter of Kill Alters formed a duo called Prolaps last year and now they’re back with 36-minute track that’s fucking insane. Mutant creature, alien invader, freak of nature, out-of-outer space shit.
Madlib—Sound Ancestors
It’s Madlib music that’s “edited, arranged and mastered” by Four Tet. Duh, it’s fucking incredible, one of the most immersive and awe-inspiring albums I’ve heard since, I don’t know, the last time I said that shit. Soooo fucking good, though.
Spirit of the Beehive—Entertainment, Death
The best band just announced their new record. It’s a pre-order but the best thing you can do for yourself is buy it, ignore all the singles, wait until the vinyl arrives at your house in April, turn off all the lights, get in the right frame of mind, and take it all in. Once it’s done, flip it over and start it again. By the 10th spin you won’t have slept in a week and you’ll be going door-to-door telling all your neighbors to do the same thing.
