Wednesday 11/11: Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire—"Black Mirror"
Today. . .we did a Madlib for this new Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire track that's produced by Madlib.
Welcome to Endless Scroll, the brainchild of Eli Enis (he/him) and Eric Bennett (they/them). Since Feb. 2019, we’ve been a weekly podcast about music, the internet, and where those two things intersect. Now we’re, also a M-F newsletter about songs. Our format is simple: a link to a song and a short take from each of us about what we think of it. Each day of the week has a corresponding genre: Monday is indie, Tuesday is punk, Wednesday is hip-hop, Thursday is pop, and Friday is misc.
Today. . .we did a Madlib for this new Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire track that's produced by Madlib.
Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire—"Black Mirror"
OK, so Michael Brooks said we should make a Madlib for this Madlib-produced track, and Eli said, “Yeah let’s fuckin’ DO it,” or something to that effect. Michael Brooks went ahead and made the Madlib and had it formatted beautifully in Google Docs and then Substack made it look kind of fucky, but Eli did his best to clean it up. You’ll get the point. Take a listen to the song while you read along, and know that any of the ridiculous words Eli chose to fill in the blanks aren’t meant to be disrespectful to Mr. eXquire. Enjoy!
My YouTube recommendations show what a man looks like when he’s on the verge of a breakdown, often encouraging me to check out _James Charles_ and _Shoenice_, but it’s also filled with a lot

of cool rap that I might have otherwise missed. Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire is a rapper that feels as much like high school as _Hurricanes_ and __The Hangover 2_ to me, I can remember being completely

Even though Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire isn’t somebody I’ve thought about in the past couple of years, the YouTube algorithm proves time and time again that it knows me better than _Eli knows the old Eric Andre scene when Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire is the guest rapper and then these two big guys in costumes come out and dump soda on his head and he screams, “that’s COLD” and laughs_ or

The Madlib produced track may or may not just be the beat from “The Garden” off of the Knicks (Remix) EP with a fresh coat of paint, but that doesn’t really matter, “Black Mirror” is still a welcome reintroduction to Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire’s world.
